Snowy Forest Canvas Print, Winter Pine Trees Wall Art, Nordic Landscape Photography

A stand of spruce and pine carrying a full load of snow, every branch bent under the weight and every tree white from the ground to the tip, standing against a pale blue winter sky.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

Snow like this only builds up in still, hard cold. There is no wind in the picture and no shadow worth speaking of, so the trees read almost as one pale wall, and the only strong colour in the frame is the blue above them. It is a quiet print rather than a dramatic one, and it makes a room feel cooler and calmer than it did before.

About the trees: a spruce is built for exactly this. The narrow cone shape and the branches that slope downwards let the snow slide instead of settling, and the wood is springy enough to bend a long way and come back. Where the snow wins anyway and the crowns disappear under it, the Finns have a word for it, tykky, the crown snow load, and a forest under deep tykky can be carrying several hundred kilos on a single tree.

Printed in landscape format, it suits a living room, bedroom, hallway, cabin or office, it looks especially good on a warm or wooden wall, and it makes a lovely gift for anyone who loves winter, skiing or the far north.

Each canvas is signed by the photographer in the lower corner.
