Rock Pool Canvas Print, Granite Coast Seascape Wall Art, Minimalist Coastal Photography

A still pool of water sits in a hollow of smooth grey granite and holds a clean mirror of the sky, with the shoulder of the rock rising behind it and deep blue sea running flat to the horizon.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

This photograph was selected as a GuruShots Top Photo and shown at BBA Gallery in Berlin in 2023.

It is a quiet picture made of three things: stone, water and sky. The pool is perfectly still, so the reflection is sharper than the sea beyond it, and the grey and blue sit against each other with nothing else competing. Look closely and the granite has its own pattern, pale grain, rust coloured veins and long cracks running through it.

About the rock: shores like this were shaped under an ice sheet. The moving ice ground the granite smooth and rounded, and when it retreated it left shallow basins in the surface. Rain and blown spray collect in those hollows and sit there, warmer and stiller than the sea a few metres away, which is why the pool mirrors the sky while the open water does not.

Printed in landscape format, its greys and blues suit a bathroom, bedroom, living room, hallway or beach house, and it makes a calm gift for anyone who loves rocky coasts and open water.
