Barn Owl Canvas Print, Heart Shaped Face Close Up Wall Art, Bird of Prey Photography

A barn owl in close profile, near enough to count the dark flecks across the buff feathers on its crown, with the white heart shaped face turned towards the camera, one deep black eye and a soft lilac background behind it.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

The whole picture works on two colours, warm gold against cool lilac, which is why it sits so easily on a painted wall. The fine brown line of small feathers that outlines the face is sharp, and the eye holds a single point of light.

About the barn owl: the heart shaped face is not decoration, it is a dish that gathers sound and funnels it towards the ears, and the two ear openings sit at slightly different heights so the bird can place a noise in the dark by height as well as direction. It can find and take a mouse it has never seen. The flight is silent because the leading edge of the first wing feather is combed into a fine fringe that breaks up the rush of air.

Printed in landscape format, it suits a bedroom, living room, nursery, study or hallway, and it makes a lovely gift for owl lovers, birdwatchers and anyone drawn to night birds.
