Mute Swan Canvas Print, Close Up White Bird Wall Art, Fine Art Bird Photography

The mute swan is not mute, and it is certainly not quiet. It got the name by comparison with its noisy cousins, and it makes up the difference with its wings: in flight they beat with a deep throbbing hum that carries several hundred metres across water. You hear a mute swan long before you see it.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

None of that noise is in this picture. It is the opposite: as close as you can get, the head and neck filling the whole frame, one drop of water hanging off the tip of the bill and refusing to fall. Orange and pink running into the black knob at the base, a dark eye set into white, and the neck curving away down the left with the feather texture holding all the way.

A portrait this tight stops being a bird photograph and becomes a study of colour and shape. Almost nothing in the frame is identifiable at a glance, which is why it hangs comfortably in rooms where a wildlife picture would look out of place.

Swans pair for years and often for life, and they are used at weddings and anniversaries for exactly that reason, which makes this a better gift than most bird prints. It also works simply as a soft, elegant piece for a bedroom or a hallway.

Printed in portrait format. Good in a bedroom, a bathroom, a hallway, a dressing room or a small wall where a landscape will not fit.

Each canvas is signed by the photographer in the lower corner.
