Seagull Canvas Print, Black and White Gull in Flight Wall Art, Coastal Bird Photography

A young gull banks hard, the near wing cutting down across its body, the far wing flung up behind, head dropped to read the water. One frame out of a second, held still.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

Stripped of colour, the bird becomes architecture. The wing carries the whole picture, every flight feather laid over the next like slats, pale at the shoulder and running to black at the tip, and the grain of brown mottling across the head reads as fine static against clean white. Behind it, nothing. The background is dissolved to bare grey so there is no horizon, no water, no scale, and no way to place the bird anywhere except in the air.

The bird is barely a year old. Gulls wear brown for two to four years before the grey and white arrives, a long apprenticeship for a bird, and this one is still in the middle of it, still learning where the food is and how the wind works.

Monochrome earns its place here. Colour would have given you a white bird over blue water and very little else. Without it you get weight, edge and speed, and a print that borrows whatever colours are already on your wall rather than arguing with them.

Landscape format. It holds a bedroom, a hallway, a study or a bathroom on its own, and it hangs well beside other black and white work.
