Elephant Walking Canvas Print, African Wildlife Wall Art, Large Safari Photography

The thing nobody warns you about is how quietly they arrive. Six tonnes of animal walks on a pad of fat and cartilage under each foot that spreads as the weight comes down and absorbs almost everything. No thud, no crack of branches, no warning. You look up and it is simply closer than it was.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

That is the moment in this photograph. He is coming straight on through long green grass with the bush closed up behind him, trunk swinging low, ears loose, both tusks short and blunt from years of work. Nothing in his body language is hurried and nothing about it is casual either.

Taken head on rather than side on, which changes what the print does on a wall. A side view shows you an animal. A front view puts you in its path, and that is a different feeling to live with. It is the reason this one wants a wall you walk towards rather than one you pass.

Printed large at 24 by 36 inches, and it needs to be. At this size he stands roughly a metre tall on your wall and the encounter survives; any smaller and it turns into a picture of an elephant instead.

For a living room, a stairwell, a wide hallway, a study or a restaurant wall. A serious gift for anyone who has walked in big game country, and for anyone whose one rule about art is that it should stop people talking when they come into the room.
