Still Water Canvas Print, Purple Dusk Reflection Wall Art, Symmetry Landscape Photo

Turn this one upside down and most people would not notice for a while. The water has copied the sky so exactly that the only thing telling you which way up it goes is a thin line of hills and one small island sitting on it.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

Symmetry is rare in a real photograph and the eye likes it more than it admits. Give someone a picture that is nearly a mirror and they keep going back to check it, comparing the two halves, finding the small places where the reflection breaks. That is a picture that stays interesting on a wall for years rather than weeks.

It is built from almost nothing: violet, grey, a little pink, and a horizon line across the middle. No boats, no buildings, no detail to catch on. Hung in a room it behaves like a colour field rather than a landscape, which means it sits easily beside modern furniture and abstract work, where a conventional landscape would look out of place.

Water this flat lasts minutes. It needs no wind at all, and the first breath of air across the surface takes the whole thing away.

Four sizes, from a small print for a narrow wall to a large one that can carry a room on its own. Good in a bedroom, a hallway, a dining room, a bathroom or an office.

Each canvas is signed by the photographer in the lower corner.
