Sea View Canvas Print, Blue Sky and Wooded Coast Wall Art, Tranquil Ocean Photography

Small rooms do not need smaller pictures. They need a window.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

A view with real depth in it does something to a wall that a close-up never will. Your eye starts on the lit shore in the near corner, travels out along the water, finds the far hills, and keeps going into open sky. That journey takes a second and a half, and for that second and a half the wall is not where the room ends. It is the oldest trick in interior decoration and it still works, which is why every cramped hallway and every home office in the world is improved by one long view and nothing else.

Two thirds of this photograph is sky. That is a deliberate proportion. Anything higher on the wall than eye level reads better with air at the top of it, and a horizon set low makes a low ceiling feel further away than it is.

Taken from height at the end of an afternoon, looking out over open sea, with the sun coming in flat from the side so the trees along the headland are lit gold while the water stays cool and blue. No boats, no houses, no roads.

For a home office, a hallway, a small bedroom, a basement room, a summer house, or anywhere a real window would have been better. Also a good gift for anyone who has moved somewhere with less sky than they are used to.

Each canvas is signed by the photographer in the lower corner.
