Hawk Canvas Print, Roadside Hawk Bird of Prey Wall Art, Nature Photography Decor

The shape of a bird tells you the temperature. Feathers trap air, and air is the insulation, so on a cold morning a bird fluffs everything out and doubles in width. This one has gone almost perfectly round, which means it was a good deal colder than it looks.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

Underneath all that it is a predator, and the parts it has not bothered to hide give it away: two yellow eyes aimed straight down the lens, a black hooked bill, and yellow feet gripping a wooden rail. A small hawk, patient, entirely unbothered by being looked at.

The chest is the reason to hang it. Row after row of rust brown bars across white, each one slightly offset from the last, more like a woven pattern than a bird. Set against the plain dark background it reads as a piece of design work from across a room, and then resolves into feathers when you walk up to it.

Soft brown, cream, white and one hit of yellow. Easy colours, unusual subject, and a print that is warm rather than fierce, which is unusual for a bird of prey.

For a living room, a study, a hallway, a bedroom or a child's room. Four sizes, from small to a proper statement piece. A good gift for birdwatchers, and for anyone who thinks hawks are all drama.

Each canvas is signed by the photographer in the lower corner.
