The leading edge of the owl's feathers are serrated, which helps break up the air as it moves through them. This helps muffle the sound of wind rushing over the wings and reduces turbulence. Additionally, the trailing edge of the owl's feathers are comb-like, which also helps to break up turbulent air and further reduce sound. As a result, owls are able to silently fly through the night, making them an incredibly efficient and stealthy hunter.
