Waves are a great indicator of the presence of rocks in the ocean. As the waves crash against the rocks, they push against them, creating a disturbance in the water. These disturbances can be seen on the surface of the ocean, as the waves break in a different pattern around the rock. This pattern gives a good indication of where the rock is located, making it easier to navigate around it...........Oh note to self, next time take a rain coat.
