Beach Stones Canvas Print, Red and Green Pebbles Wall Art, Nature Texture Photography

Not one of these stones grew here. Every single one was quarried out of a mountain somewhere else, carried here inside a sheet of ice a kilometre thick, dumped when the ice gave up, and then rolled smooth by the sea for the next ten thousand years.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

That is why the colours do not match. A beach made of one local rock is all one shade. This one is red and pink granite with dark green and grey stones scattered all through it, which means at least two completely different rocks, from two different places, ended up in the same bay. Every pebble in the frame is a traveller with a different starting point.

Wet, they show their true colours. A film of water fills the rough surface, stops the light scattering, and the rock goes as deep and saturated as it ever gets. Dry, the same beach is half as bright.

As a print it is pure texture and pattern, no horizon and no sky. From across a room it reads as an abstract in coral, rust and sea green. Up close it turns back into stones you could pick up. The green is what makes this one easy to place: it balances the warm tones, so it works in cooler rooms where a purely red print would look out of place.

For a bathroom, a hallway, a bedroom, a kitchen or a study, and particularly good beside greens, sage, slate, wood and brass.
