Pebble Beach Canvas Print, Red Granite Stones Wall Art, Abstract Texture Photography

Wet granite pebbles packed edge to edge across the whole frame, rust, brick and salmon red with grey and blue-green stones set among them, every one of them rounded and still shining from the water.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

No horizon, no sky, no sea. Just the ground, shot straight down, close enough that scale disappears. From across a room it reads as a warm abstract in terracotta and slate, and up close it turns back into a beach you could put your hand into. There are a handful of cool stones scattered through it, and they are what stop all that red from going flat.

The colour is genuine geology. Red granite takes its shade from potassium feldspar, one of the three minerals that make up the rock, and the pale specks and glassy grey grains beside it are the other two, quartz and mica. Every stone here started as an angular lump broken off a larger mass and was rolled smooth by water and by grinding against its neighbours, which takes a very long time. They look this saturated because they are wet: a film of water fills in the rough surface, stops it scattering light, and lets the real colour of the rock show through. Dry, this beach is half as bright.

It prints as a texture piece rather than a view, which makes it easy to place. Good in a bathroom, hallway, bedroom, kitchen or office, especially in a room with warm wood, terracotta, brick or cream in it.
