Silver Trees Canvas Print, Forest Reflection Lake Wall Art, Green Nature Photography

The bare silver trees are the interesting part, and most people read them wrong. A forest full of standing dead wood looks like a forest in trouble. It is usually the opposite.

Printed and shipped from the US for US orders, and normally from Canada for Canadian orders and from Latvia, inside the EU, for European orders, so buyers in Canada and the EU should not pay customs fees.

A dead tree left standing is the single richest thing in a wood. Beetles get in first, fungus follows, woodpeckers cut holes to reach the beetles, and then owls, tits, flycatchers, bats and squirrels move into the holes the woodpeckers abandon. Tidy forestry takes all of that out. A shoreline like this one, left alone with its silver trunks still upright among the green, is supporting more species than the neat plantation up the road.

As a picture it is built on that contrast: hard pale verticals scattered through soft dark green, doubled exactly in water so still there is no seam. The line where the bank meets its reflection almost disappears, and the whole image works as two halves folded together.

Green and silver, no blue, no sky. It is a quieter, more sophisticated palette than most lake photographs, and it sits especially well in a room with plants, wood, linen or stone in it.

For a living room, a bedroom, a hallway, a study or a summer house. A good gift for walkers, birdwatchers, anyone with a place by water, and anyone who likes a picture that rewards a second look.
